For Sale and Want Ads

I have enjoyed my very tenuous association with the IPDCA over the past 40+ years, as owner of 4377. Sadly, the maintenance and storage requirements have outstripped our ability to properly care for this lovely little sailboat. My friend sold his farm, and we’ve lost the corner of his barn where she’s wintered these many years. My husband restored her 15 years ago, lovingly applying the 7 - 10 coats of marine varnish with a lovely badger-hair brush, carefully sanding and dusting her between coats so she gleams in the sunshine. He did the same with the mast and boom.

With regret she is up for sale, with the trailer featured in the photos. I live on the outskirts of Toronto. I have the original sail, plus the provenance of her ownership> I am only the second owner - she was built nearby in Niagara-on-the-Lake by George Hinterhoeller, who was a founder of C&C Yachts. The mast and boom are also wood, also nicely varnished, and stored in my garage.

How do I best make your members, and future sailors, aware of this lovely opportunity to own a piece of Canadian sailing history? She’s a delight to sail, as you well know, and I would be so happy to know she’s plying the waters of another lake. She’s advertised in Wooden Boat, but I thought Penguin sailors might like to know she’s available.

9749  We’ve sailed the boat one time since I bought it at the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum auction on August 30, 2008. The boat and trailer have been stored indoors the entire time. This boat, Tuxedo Junction, No. 9749 was built by Jerry Mullins, Norfolk, VA and measured and certified in 2003. The boat was built in strict accordance with I.P.C.D.A. specifications.

I would like to sell the boat and trailer for $3,500.00. This is what I paid for it at the auction. If you know of anyone interested in a very lightly used Penguin, please have them contact me.

Thank you for your consideration
