2025 Heritage (Tred Avon Yacht Club)
TAYC hosted the Heritage Regatta on August 23, 2025. The races were held on the Tred Avon, up river from the club. PRO John Devlin set a windward leeward course in the mostly southerly breeze that varied from 180 to 220 degrees, in no particular pattern, but with a few lopsided beats and reachy runs. Young crew were the order of the day with Gray Shannahan sailing with son Graham, age 8, and daughter Elle, age 6, and Patrick Brooks sailed with his son Bennett. Despite some on water fussing, Bennett was all smiles at the end of the regatta, especially when he received his 3rd place crew trophy. Bob and Nora Beck Tan took a win in Race #1 and sailed strong to finish 2nd overall. The Brooks team took race #2. The Shannahan team won race #4, much to the delight of the crew, seen dancing after the finish. It was notable that in the first four races, each of the four teams won a race. On the sail back to the beach, we got to see a dramatic downwind, post gybe Log Canoe capsize. Another Log Canoe suffered a broken mast as a result of a shroud failure.
